We are pleased to honor 2011 Williams-Clear Community Engagement Award recipient, the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative Inc. (FSFSC), as well as, 2010 recipient, the National Park Service.

The Williams-Clear Award recognizes the lives of Ramina Williams and Yvonne Clear who were community activists in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Recipients can be individuals or organizations who embrace the spirit of selfless dedication to the community as embodied in the life works of Ramina and Yvonne. Past recipients include Family Medical Counseling Services and National Park Service.

FSFSC is an integral part of life for residents in Ward 8 and provides invaluable social and supportive services for youth, families, and the organizations that serve them. We are more than honor to bestow upon Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative the Williams-Clear Community Engagement Award. To learn more about FSFSC visit their website at: http://www.fsfsc.org/.

Our significant community partners, the DC College Savings Plan and Transforming U, LLC. will be recognized for their invaluable support of Aban.

Aban established its Founders Award in 2011 to recognize an individual who played a significant role in the development of the organization and continues to be an active voice in the community.  We are honored to recognize Reverend Edwin L. Jones, Sr. pastor of Living Faith Church in the Deanwood community of Washington, DC as recipient of the first Founders Award.

Reverend Jones served on the board of directors for Aban in various capacities for nearly a decade. He is also the president of Faith Christian University and Schools (FCUS) and Faith International Leadership Institute.  Reverend Jones is world renowned and has traveled extensively throughout Africa ministering and developing the leadership capacity of several countries in Africa. We are honor to recognize each of these individuals and organizations, and our volunteers as they play significant roles to help Aban accomplish its mission of reclaiming our children, rebuilding our families, and reviving our communities.

Aban's Annual Soiree and Fundraiser

2011 proved to be a great challenge for Aban as we almost did not make it. But you stuck with us and we are forever grateful.  To show our appreciation for great supporters like you, we want you to be our guest of honor at Aban's Annual Soiree and Fundraiser at our new home, the HIVE, 2027 Martin L. King Jr., Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20020 on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 3PM-5PM.

Also, we are excited to share this great day with one of our supporters, the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, Inc. (FSFSC) whom we will honor with this year's Williams-Clear Community Engagement Award. This award recognizes the life of Ramina Williams and Yvonne Clear who were community activists in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

The Williams-Clear Community Engagement Award recognizes one of our community partners, either an individual or organization, for their effort towards social change as embodied in the lives of Ramina and Yvonne. Our very first award recipient was Family and Medical Counseling Services, Inc. (FMCS) for their tireless effort to reduce and prevent the rate of HIV/AIDS infections in Ward 8, Washington, DC

Located in the heart of Historic Anacostia, at the Anacostia Professional Building, the FSFSC was established in 1996 through a Neighborhood Collaborative Capacity Grant made possible through the federal Family Preservation and Support Act. FSFSC serves all of Ward 8 and works to educate the community about child abuse and neglect, implements a small grant program (the Mini-Grant Program), and provides family support services. To learn more about FSFSC visit their website at: http://www.fsfsc.org/.

Finally, Aban established its Founders Award to recognize an individual who played a significant role in the development of the organization and continues to be an active voice in the community.  We are honored to recognize Reverend Edwin L. Jones, Sr. as recipient of the first Founders Award.

Reverend Jones served on the board of Aban for a decade in various capacities. He is the pastor of the Living Faith Church in the Deanwood community in Washington DC. He is also the president of Faith Christian University and Schools (FCUS) and Faith International Leadership Institute.  Reverend Jones is world renowned and has traveled extensive throughout  Africa ministering and developing the leadership capacity of several countries in Africa. To learn more about FCUS visit their website at:http://faithchristianus.org/.

Please join us for a wonderful event to celebrate Aban's victory and recognize key community leaders including our volunteers and partners.
